Easter Families, are agents of Reconciliation, Justice
and Peace
By the time this
edition of Drumbeat reaches most of you, it will be time to celebrate the
Easter. And indeed, Easter Families, which we are, are agents of
Reconciliation, justice and peace. We take Family as the theme of this month of theDiocesan Drumbeat.
Family is one of the items that is outlined in the Africae Munus (African Commitment), the Post-Synodal Apostolic
Exhortation of His Holiness Pope Benedict VI.
The dictionary definition of family is, ‘a social unit usually consisting of one or two parents and their children.’ It further describes family as, ‘a group of individuals living under one roof and under one head; a group of persons of common ancestry and a group of things having a common characteristics…’ Sociology and anthropology tell us of the importance of a family in the shaping up of any given society.
