A time to reflect: What does this message mean in my life?

"It's important not to love ourselves so much that we're not willing to take the risks that history demands of us."

Romero's last homily, shortly before he was assassinated at the altar
We all know the risks that Archbishop Romero took in speaking out against the violence in El Salvador.  What risks does the Gospel call us to take today?

  1. To my life the message that is sent by Romero is that life is should be one filled with compassion for others. It is necessary to focus on oneself in order to find your place in the world, but your journey to finding your place, should also be an elevation to those around you also.

  2. This message sent by Romero means to me that is that life to focus too much in ourselves, but to be able to have compassion for others. It is important to help other around us because we are all brothers and sisters from God. I agree with the risks that Archbishop Romero took about speaking against violence because it does not solve anything, but just going into a never ending cycle. People should enforce nonviolence, since there are many ways to solve different situations.
