Human Trafficking Awareness Day

January 11th is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day in the United States.  There are many ways to participate through prayer and action.  Below are some resources to help you connect with ways to join the fight to end human trafficking and care for survivors.

US Catholic Sisters Against Human Trafficking
Check out the January reflection for ideas about how to study, pray, and act to end trafficking.  There are also many prayer resources and educational modules for teaching about human trafficking to different groups of people.

DHS Blue Campaign
The Blue Campaign is the unified voice for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) efforts to combat human trafficking. Working in collaboration with law enforcement, government, non-governmental and private organizations, the Blue Campaign strives to protect the basic right of freedom and to bring those who exploit human lives to justice.

On January 11th, you are encouraged to wear blue, take a picture of yourself, and share on social media with the hashtag #WearBlueDay to raise awareness about human trafficking.

Prayer Resources

Interfaith Toolkit on Human Trafficking 2019
The toolkit contains basic information about trafficking, as well as specific information on the connection between consumerism and trafficking. We encourage communities to focus on the way in which consumerism and lack of accountability in business supply chains result in millions of people being trafficked or enslaved. The toolkit also contains faith-based resources for several faith traditions, including prayers, scriptures, statements, fact sheets and resolutions. Finally, the toolkit contains ideas for local faith communities to take action against human trafficking, as well as links to additional print and multimedia resources.

Prayer Service to End Human Trafficking
The Intercommunity Peace & Justice Center has prepared a prayer service for National Trafficking Prevention Month.  Let us unite in praying for an end to human trafficking and slavery in our world.

Prayer Calendar
The Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange have created a prayer calendar from January 11 - Feb 8 with an intention for each day to help end human trafficking and support all who are caught in the chains of modern day slavery.
