World Day of Migrants and Refugees - January 14

The Center for Concern has some great resources and reminders to stay connected this weekend and all year long with the work to welcome, protect, promote, and integrate migrants and refugees in our communities!

On Sunday, Pope Francis will celebrate mass at St. Peter's with over 8,000 migrants and refugees in attendance as the Church marks the 104th World Day of Migrants and Refugees. He will affirm that it is our duty to respond to the needs of our brothers and sisters, individually and collectively.

In September 2018, the UN General Assembly will move to adopt two international agreements that will help refugees and migrants. Pope Francis reminds us, "shared agreements at the global level... will provide a framework for policy proposals and practical measure." He believes that these agreements "need to be inspired by compassion, foresight, and courage."

The Migrants & Refugees Section of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development has prepared a set of 20 Pastoral Action Points and 20 Action Points for the Global Compacts, providing concrete leads for implementing the four actions - to welcome, to protect, to promote, and to integrate - in the attitudes and actions of Christian communities and of all people concerned for those who must flee, and in national and international policies.
