The second prayer vigil sponsored by the "St. Louis: A SISTER City" group was held on Thursday, August 9, at 7:00 p.m. directly across from the Millenium Hotel where LCWR has been gathered for its annual conference. Many LCWR members participated in the prayer vigil.
Pat Farrell, OSF President of LCWR; Mary Hughes, OP, Past President of LCWR; and Florence Deacon, OSF, President-Elect of LCWR each addressed the group expressing how touched they were by the outpouring of support they have received from people throughout the world and in a special way by the welcome they received in St. Louis. Those assembled then extended their hands and sang a blessing over the LCWR officers.
A "litany" of mission statements of each of the member congregations of LCWR provided a reflective time to appreciate the overwhelming impact of women religious in the U.S.
