Make Immigration Reform Your Lenten Promise

As we begin Lent, NETWORK, a Catholic social justice lobby, and Justice For Immigrants, an effort of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, are urging people to make immigration reform their lenten promise.  To help us do this, they have provided materials to guide us through 40 days of strategic, coordinated prayer and action:

*  A LENTEN CALENDAR (The calendar can be found on p. 3-4 of the toolkit below):  Catholics across the country will generate a groundswell of prayer and action directed toward a Catholic member of Congress each weekday.  CLICK HERE for more information.

*  A TOOLKIT OF LENTEN IMMIGRATION RESOURCES: This toolkit includes stories, scripture readings, prayers, and reflection questions for your own personal use or to share with a group.  CLICK HERE for the toolkit.

      p. 2 of Toolkit:  Contains information about the "Fast 4 Families" (www.fast4families.org).  We are also challenged to FAST EACH WEDNESDAY OF LENT to repent from an immigration system that tears apart families and to be a prophetic witness to the moral urgency of common sense immigration reform.  CLICK HERE for more information.

      p. 3-4 of Toolkit: The LENTEN CALENDAR gives the weekly scripture reading, the name and phone number of each U.S. Representative to call, and a reminder about the Wednesday fast.
