Nearly a year ago the streets of the United States were filled with voices exclaiming "I can't breathe," "Black Lives Matter," and "enough is enough." This Tuesday, April 20, people once again stood in the streets and the crowd heard"guilty," "I am somebody," and "George Flood, rest in peace." We listen to their voices, we join them, and with many feelings right now... we feel called to continue our commitment for healing and peace to all, especially for the loved ones of George Floyd.
We know that there is much more work that needs to be done on racial justice and policing practices to protect our communities. We follow in solidarity with those leading the way toward true justice. While nothing can bring George Floyd back, may the nation and world find relief in this historic step of accountability and justice.
We are here taking small steps with our prayers and actions for systemic racism to end. Together with all people of good will in our collective human history, we can say that justice and respect for the human dignity of all is possible.
