A San Antonio Delegation of people led by San Antonio Peace Laureates, Rev. Ann Helmke and Sr. Martha Ann Kirk are going to be part of the Nobel Peace Laureate Summit in Monterrey, Mexico, to learn and to work on a "Camino de compasión y paz," a way of compassion and peace.
- This Camino aims to create opportunities for deeper connection and healing among cities between Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico and San Antonio, Texas, United States of America. We recognize that previous routes, or caminos, from Mexico and what is now the United States (previously Indigenous land and Coahuila y Tejas) have contested histories rooted in colonialism and notions of discovery. To spread peace and promote healing from ancestral and contemporary trauma and violence associated with this land and its histories, the Camino de compasión will center the communities, cultures, and ritual traditions that make this land vibrant and beautiful. Our goal is not to replicate colonial paths and violent relationships; we strive to promote peace and compassion in ways that are meaningful and healing to everyone.
We are working with the movement to build Peace on Earth by 2030, the international Charter for Compassion, and our San Antonio program of education and action www.CompassionateUSA.org
