AlterNet: "Garden as if your life depended on it, because it does" by Ellen LaConte
Sojourners: A main focus of the April, 2011 issue is climate change. Two of the articles posted are:
"For God So Loved the Dirt" by Norman Wirzba
"Climate Change: Just the Facts" by Bill McKibben
NCR: Celebrating Earth Day in your parish by Carol Meyer
All of this articles were fairly interesting. I never thought of gardening as being something that could change the course of our immediate future. Sure, the green movement has it's advantages, but I didn't think so much into it until reading these articles.
ReplyDeleteParticularly the article by Ellen LaConte. She gave specific reasons as to why we should all take to gardening to improve our future both agriculturally and economically.
I like that she noted that by all of gardening, we can improve the economy, as each of us would be growing our own crops, our own foods. It would cost less to plant, grow, pick fruits and vegetables, than it would be to constantly taking trips through the McDonald's drive-thru.
