El Movimiento Católico Mundial por el Clima promueve el Seminario en Línea 'Amazonía y Ecología, una perspectiva latinoamericana' para este 15 de enero a las 4:00 p.m. (hora Quito).
El seminario es un espacio de reflexión sobre la Amazonía y la ecología desde el pensamiento de San Óscar Romero, Santa Laura Montoya, el futuro Beato Enrique Angelelli y Monseñor Leonidas Proaño y pretende ser un aporte al Sínodo Panamazónico que se desarrollará en Octubre.

How to BE Peace

As peace and justice advocates, there seems to be no end to the issues that confront us daily. Protests, actions, and meetings are an integral part of working for peace with justice, but it can also be exhausting.

As people who are doing a lot, we have to take a step back and look at our own hearts. Are we taking care ourselves? Do we have peace within? Where are we getting the strength to live out our commitment to peace and justice?

Pax Christi USA offers you an opportunity to reflect on being nonviolent peacemakers and suggestions on how to nourish and deepen the spirituality that needs to accompany a commitment to active nonviolence with our webinar, “How to BE Peace.”

Con esperanza nos reunimos en la plataforma ‘Blue Jeans’ vía Internet con más 60 colaboradores/as líderes en sus áreas de nuestros diversos ministerios en México y Estados Unidos, con quienes compartimos nuestra acción corporativa por el cuidado de la creación y algunas ideas sobre cómo planificar eventos sostenibles tomadas de ESTARTAP (especialistas en eventos sostenibles).

Una de las luces que más nos ha llenado de alegría, es contemplar el compromiso ecológico de nuestras Universidades tanto de Estados Unidos como en México. Gracias por las iniciativas, luchas y esperanzas en este caminar de seguir siendo mejores protectoras de la creación. Pues a través de una dinámica, las/los participantes reconocían lo que se estaba haciendo ya y lo que podría implementarse para ser cada vez más sostenibles en los eventos.

Cabe mencionar que se realizaron dos Webinars (uno en español y otro en inglés) el 17 y 18 de mayo con el objetivo de sociabilizar y cumplir con nuestro compromiso congregacional de asegurar que al menos el 50% de todos los materiales utilizados y consumidos en las reuniones y eventos CCVI sean respetuosos con el medio ambiente.

Sustainable Events Webinar

On May 17^th and 18^th the JPIC Office hosted webinars in English and Spanish on sustainable event planning.  Around 60 people participated in these webinars including many participants from our various CCVI sponsored ministries and institutions.  These webinars were in line with our congregational goal of ensuring at least 50% of all materials and food/drink items used in meetings and events are environmentally friendly.  

Content of the webinar included a brief review of the corporate action for the care of creation and then a concrete list of how to know if you are planning a sustainable event.  Participants were able to reflect on what they are already doing and share ideas about ways to improve.  We are grateful for all that is already happening throughout the Congregation and our institutions, and will continue to support one another in hosting even more sustainable meetings and events!

Como Congregación de las Hermanas de la Caridad del Verbo Encarnado (CCVI), en setiembre del 2016 publicamos nuestra ACCIÓN CORPORATIVA por el cuidado por la tierra. De ahí hasta ahora hemos intentado impulsar iniciativas locales, fortalecer lo que ya se está haciendo a través de nuestras redes a nivel de está temática y también compartiendo lo que nuestras instituciones realizan, publicando mensualmente 'Viviendo Laudato Si'.

Han tiempos desafiantes porque cambiar prácticas exigen mayor tiempo y mucha voluntad. La creatividad en los eventos se ha percibido por muchas(os) pero aún hay camino por recorrer.
Por ello, creemos que ofrecer una Conferencia Virtual (webinar) a nuestras(os) colaboradoras(es) respecto a 'Eventos Sostenibles' nos permitiría aprender más y mejor.

The Catholic Nonviolence Initiative Presents Jesus’ Way of Nonviolence

The second in the series of four webinars from the Catholic Nonviolence Initiative is scheduled for Tuesday, October 11 at  9:00 am ET. Entitled “Jesus’ Way of Nonviolence” speakers will explore how recent experiences of nonviolence help illuminate our understanding of Jesus’ way of engaging conflict.

The one-hour webinar will include and introduction by moderator Ken Butigan, senior lecturer in the Peace, Justice and Conflict Studies Program at DePaul University in Chicago, as well as brief presentations by Fr. Jamal Khader, Rector of the Latin Patriarchate Seminary in Jerusalem; Sr. Anne McCarthy, OSB, Retreat director and and justice activist; Dr. Terry Rynne, Professor of Peace Studies and founder of the Center for Peacemaking at Marquette University. There will also be time for questions and comments from participants. Register here.

The Catholic Nonviolence Initiative is continuing the work begun at the Nonviolence and Just Peace Conference, held in Rome in April 2016. The conference brought together more than 80 people for an unprecedented gathering to discuss the Catholic Church’s historic commitment to nonviolence. It continues to stimulate conversations and engage people of faith around the world. Conference papers have been published, articles written, and resources gathered in support of the efforts to promote nonviolence.  Resources and papers are available at on their website. 

At the conference participants affirmed an outcome document that appeals to the Catholic church to recommit to the centrality of Gospel nonviolence. It is a commitment to further Catholic understanding and practice of active nonviolence on the road to just peace

The is inviting other organizations and individuals to join them in endorsing the statement from the conference, “An Appeal to the Catholic Church to Recommit to the Centrality of Nonviolence.” Read and endorse the statement here.
