ENGLISH:  Jack Dorsey, the creator of Twitter, was born in St. Louis, MO and graduated from Bishop DuBourg High School.

Dorsey designed Twitter as a way for an individual to communicate with a small group of people.  He intentionally kept the size of the communication short, i.e. less than 140 characters.  Since the dictionary definition of "twitter" is "a short burst of inconsequential information" and "chirps from birds" he named this new method of social communication Twitter and each short message is called a "tweet."

So how can Twitter be used?
*  The USUAL WAY is exactly what the word twitter signifies:  giving a short burst of inconsequential information.  Some people share what they're going to fix for supper, some share vacation activities, etc.
*  An extraordinary use of Twitter (and Facebook too) was the significant role it played in the SOCIAL CHANGE process that recently occured in Egypt.
*  Another extraordinary use of Twitter was shown in the previous blog posting on homelessness.  Here Twitter served as a means of SOCIAL ADVOCACY, allowing the homeless to have a voice.
*  A more mundane way that I generally use Twitter on this blog is as a BIBLIOGRAPHY.  Every time I read an interesting article, I tweet it, i.e. publish the web location of the article on the ccvi_sa twitter site, so that I can find it easily when I need it.  Sort of an electronic filing system.

Intencionalmente mantuvo el tamaño de la comunicación  corta, es decir, menos de 140 caracteres. Desde la definición del diccionario "twitter" es "una corta ráfaga de información inconsecuente" y "los sonidos de las aves", Dorsey nombró Twitter a este nuevo método de comunicación social y cada mensaje corto  es llamado un "tweet ". 

* La forma normal es exactamente lo que significa la palabra twitter: dar una corta ráfaga de información intrascendente. Algunas personas comparten lo que van a preparar para la cena, algunas actividades de vacaciones, etc.
* Un uso extraordinario de Twitter (y Facebook también) fue el papel importante que hizo en el proceso de cambio social recientemente en Egipto.
* Otro uso extraordinario de Twitter se muestra en la publicación anterior en el blog sobre la falta de vivienda. Aquí Twitter sirve como medio de promoción social, permitiendo que las personas sin hogar tengan una voz.
* Una forma más mundana en que generalmente yo uso Twitter en este blog es como una bibliografía. Cada vez que leo un artículo interesante, lo Tweet, es decir, publico la direccion web del articulo en el sitio Twitter ccvi_sa para que pueda encontrarlo fácilmente cuando lo necesito. Una especie de sistema de archivo electrónico.
