UNICEF ​​REPORT ON OUR BOYS AND GIRLS IN PERU (Published in Journal SIGNS - March 2011)

A report of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) under the title "State of Children in Peru", says that 45% of children and adolescents in the country live in poverty and 19% of them they do in extreme poverty.Apart from that, UNICEF warns that many of the children concentrate very high poverty rates. Among children under 5 years, for example, 49% are poor and 19% extremely poor. In the range of the lords of 6 and 11 years, poverty also reaches the alarming figure of 48%, while extreme poverty reached 18%.

In the case of adolescents, 12 to 17 years, poverty reaches 41% and 14% extreme. The purpose of the investigation, according to UNICEF Representative in Peru, Paul Martin, is to bring the public agenda prioritizing children and adolescents in the country.
