This excellent resource is being provided by the American Friends Service Committee who say, "We hope these tools will help you as you wage peace."
"Join AFSC (American Friends Service Committee) and others in a grassroots effort to change our priorities from a militaristic approach to security to one of compassion. We urge starting with compassion at home through meeting basic human needs and broaden into a foreign policy that recognizes basic human rights for people around the world.
In our new toolkit you will find a set of tools to help your community work on federal budget issues over the next year: fact sheets; guides to bird dogging, meeting with Congress and working with the media; ideas for actions and specific opportunities like the super committee and resolutions campaigns.
The twelve members of the Super Committee are charged with finding $1.2 trillion to cut from the federal deficit over ten years. Their recommendations, to be completed by November 23, could affect every single federal program: Social Security, Medicare, services that feed and house the poor, foreign aid, the military, tax policies, and more."
