Living a more sustainable future

DITCH, DON’T PITCH

More than 1,500 plastic water bottles are discarded every second in the US, and fewer than one in ten is recycled. It’s estimated that by 2050 the ocean will contain more plastic by weight than fish. The Sierra Club is teaming up with Lonely Whale on a campaign to ditch plastic water bottles. Reducing the amount of plastic in our oceans will protect whales, seals, birds, and turtles, and help end our reliance on fossil fuels.” (Sierra Club)

Plasticwater bottles have taken over the world as we know it. A lot of countries have been implementing rules to combat the large use of plastic humans use. For instance, a lot of places have started charging their customers for plastic bags, not serving plastic straws in restaurants and even trying to reduce how much plastic bottles they sell in their stores. Recycle bins have practically been placed all over the world and yet we seem to be overly consumed by plastic and not recycling enough so what seems to be the issue? Why aren’t we becoming a cleaner world? Terry Swearingen said that “We are living on this planet as if we had another one to go to.” And that seems to be the mentality with a lot of people. People think that the world can fix itself by itself. Which we all know isn’t true, but we can help make it a better place by pledging not to use plastic throw away bottles and only use reusable water bottles while urging our friends and family to do the same. If you like to sign the pledge to help decrease your carbon footprint the link is below! https://addup.sierraclub.org/campaigns/goodbye-plastics?promoid=7010Z000001vut8QAA&utm_source=insider&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=newsletter&db_token=65dd9c6056a32139d9cef835f7ea256691ee6c38606db4ade43b826f5abcdbe4c618a4cf9214ffd794d1f587cef20be2
