From the Global Catholic Climate Movement
We are very glad to announce the new Season of Creation website, which is the fruit of a collaboration with the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network and our ecumenical partners from the World Council of Churches, Act Alliance and GreenFaith.
It includes a fantastic video with a personal invitation of Pope Francis to pray for creation on September 1st, which had its grand premiere in Krakow last Sunday before the WYD final mass ofPope Francis (3 million pilgrims watched it live!). The video was produced in collaboration with PWPN.
We are hoping that the Catholic community will massively participate by joining Pope Francis for this special day.
September 1st is less than one month away! Here’s what you can do to encourage your networks to join the Pope in prayer for creation:
1. Promote the Season of Creation website (it will soon be translated into multiple languages)
2. Share the Pope Video on Facebook and on Twitter
3. Encourage your networks to host special prayer services on September 1st or anytime throughout the Season of Creation (which ends on October 4). And please aim to celebrate ecumenical services whenever possible, in the spirit of the Pope’s invitation. If you know ofany prayer services already scheduled in your country, please register them so they get uploaded to the global map in the Season of Creation website (we aim to illustrate how Catholics and other Christians are participating by compiling a big amount of prayer services in the map).
In addition to encouraging communities to host prayer events, we will also be inviting Catholic communities to take action for creation, participate in webinars on ecological spirituality and divestment, join our second divestment announcement, and advocate for the urgent ratification ofthe Paris Climate Agreement.
